Where are the Marines?

Filed under: PPN EXCLUSIVE,Politics — Mark Wentz @ 4:19 pm

From October 2001 to October 2004, we were often reminded that Dubya was a cowboy and didn’t just subpoena the evil doers like the liberals would. He attacked them. The purpose of reminding us was two-fold. First, thank goodness Gore wasn’t elected. Second, we shouldn’t elect Kerry.

You see, lawsuits are bad. They only exist because trial lawyers have the liberals wrapped around their fingers. There is no just lawsuit. They are all frivolous. (Unless a liberal uses “fair and balanced” in the title of his or her book, of course.) With that in mind, the United States government doesn’t send subpoenas; it sends the military.

When did this change? Today the government announced it is indicting Lewis Libby on 5 counts related to a leak putting our agents potentially in danger. Suddenly, gooey-in-the-middle George W. Bush says, according to CNN’s web site, that “We are all saddened by today’s news.”

No we’re not. We saddened that the White House turned bleeding-heart and teary-eyed on us. Come on! Where’re the “wanted: dead or alive” and “fool me twice, uh, we won’t get fooled again” proclaimations? I demand the United States do what it always does–send in the military! I want to see humvees outside the Rove residence and tanks outside the Libby household. This time make jolly-well certain that those babies have proper armor, thank you very much.
Signed,

P.S. Please make sure that imbedded reporters like Geraldo Rivera don’t give away troop locations again.

Seal of Disapproval

Filed under: PPN EXCLUSIVE,Politics — Mark Wentz @ 10:18 am

The White House has gotten so fed up with news that it has even started attacking The Onion, a newspaper that clearly is fictional and is meant as humor. I know I look forward to it every week for a good laugh. In this case, they don’t like that The Onion is using the official White House seal.

This Bush Inc. tantrum is laughable. In Bush Inc.’s defense, I can understand why they’d be thrown by a mock newspaper. They’ve put mock leaders in charge of FEMA. They’ve put mock evidence against Iraq in front of the UN. They have a mock energy plan. They have a mock Homeland Security plan. Now, they’ve put a mock judge up for a Supreme Court justice.

Obviously, the White House has a sense of humor. It just has spent so time spinning the truth, it can’t tell humor from reality anymore.

Oh God, Blog 2

Filed under: PPN EXCLUSIVE,Politics — Mark Wentz @ 10:18 pm

So we’re having some odd debate about “Intelligent Design” vs. “Evolution.” Okay, it’s really creationism vs. evolution, but I like that the conservatives are calling it “Intelligent Design” so they can pretend it is not Bible-thumping pandering to Christians. Here’s what I like about it: the word “intelligent.”

And here’s why:

Remember about a year ago during that election. (Hey, where’d everybody go?) Well, John Kerry and his followers were often dismissed as intellectuals. Bad bad bad. No good comes out of intelligence. No, we needed a president who wasn’t going to let thinking get involved in decisions. Now, all of a sudden, God is an intellectual.

May I take it a step or two further? How else did the Republicans smear Kerry’s ilk? Is God a latte drinker? Does God live in the Northeast U.S.? Does God idolize (gasp) Barbra Streisand? God could be Jewish. Soft on terror?

I tell you, it’s a slippery slope. If you start redefining “intellectual” and letting your moral compass go off course, soon anything is possible. God just might be a Democrat! And I CANNOT wait to see the Republican attack ads on God!

Hurricane and Abel

Filed under: For the life of me — Mark Wentz @ 4:03 pm

Typically, after tragedies, there are plenty of people saying the tragedies were God’s way of punishing us. However, Hurricane Katrina was mostly absent of such declarations. Okay, there were SOME. Actually, the first one I saw was in a letter to the editor claiming, essentially, that Hurricane Katrina never would have happened if the Jews in Gaza weren’t forced out. I don’t recall any of the usual suspects spewed out from the usual “newsworthy” god spokespersons: gays, gay marriage, abortions, and God being allegedly “banned from the public square.” Apparently, Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell have the month off. I’m just kidding, of course. Robertson has way been too busy telling his followers (shudder) to ask God to kill off Supreme Court justices and suggesting the U.S. government kill off Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. Wasn’t there a Ten Commandment thing about killing? Oh, well. Never mind.

Since few are suggesting God is punishing us this time, it may be a good time to discuss this; since it isn’t a hot button issue with all the attached emotions. So why is God punishing us? . . .

Money for Nothing

Filed under: PPN EXCLUSIVE,Politics — Mark Wentz @ 1:24 pm

I received the following e-mail message from the Republican party of Minnesota. Nothing wrong with it, really, except for the part about the great pay. Am I really to trust these people? Remember, these are the folks who think that $5.15 an hour should be plenty to pay for food, shelter, clothing, health care, education, saving for college, saving for retirement, life insurance, car insurance, home insurance, flood insurance, and do our part (read “buy stuff”) during a national emergency. And then, after a tragedy, they expect us to have enough left over to donate. How stupid do I look? I should have looked into it just to see how much pay fit their criteria of “great.”

Dear Mark,
